The Nakhlite Martian Meteorites Are Not Crystal Cumulates
[#6011]
Nakhlites are thought to igneous crystal cumulates of augite ± olivine. New self-consistent data on the nakhlites’ chemistry and petrography suggest otherwise — that the nakhlites are not cumulates, but are the compositions of martian magmas.

Martian Shergottite Thermodynamic Properties at Low Temperatures
[#6094]
We report heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and coefficients of thermal expansion measured from 5 K to 300 K for eight shergottites. Thermal expansion data suggest a significant presence of phyllosilicates in one sample, and glass in 3 samples.

Comparing Diffusion and Zoning Profiles in Elephant Moraine 79001 Lithologies A and B
[#6360]
We collected maps of elemental zoning in minerals present in two lithologies of shergottite EETA 79001. We will measure and model diffusion gradients along zoning profiles in order to better constrain timing of the magmatic processes recorded.

Constraining the Petrogenesis of Monomineralic Clasts Within the Martian Polymict Breccia Northwest Africa 7034
[#6225]
Melt inclusions within monomineralic clasts in the breccia Northwest Africa 7034 can help define the parental melt composition(s) of magmas formed during early Mars history.

3D Crystal Size Distribution of the Northwest Africa 10645 and Miller Range 03346 Nakhlites Using X-Ray Computed Tomography
[#6200]
We used X-ray computed tomography to conduct 3D quantitative textural analyses, including crystal size distributions, on two martian meteorites from the nakhlite suite to constrain their formation and emplacement.

Origin of Nitrogen on Mars: First In Situ N Isotope Analyses of Martian Meteorites
[#6354]
We measured by SIMS, for the first time, the nitrogen content and isotopic composition of glassy MIs of Chassigny and the mesostasis of nakhlites. This study indicates that planetary bodies in the inner SS accreted (isotopically) chondritic nitrogen.

Improving Mineral Characterization in CRISM Images of Gale Crater with Machine Learning
[#6142]
Efficiently analyze Gale Crater mineral compositions on Mars using CRISM data. Machine learning reduces manual effort, providing insights into martian geology and habitability. Ongoing work focuses on refining methods for broader coverage.

Investigating the Origin of Mars' Moon Phobos: A Ground-Truthing Approach Through Laboratory Analysis of Meteorites
[#6390]
To ground-truth remote observations of Phobos, including those taken by MMX, we have used XRD and FTIR reflectance spectroscopy to characterise the bulk mineralogy and IR spectra of carbonaceous chondrites and shock darkened ordinary chondrites.

Does XCT Imaging Alter Organics in Analogue MSR Samples? No...But Maybe?
[#6104]
Is XCT imaging non-destructive? Tests on asteroidal carbonaceous materials suggest that there is no significant effect. Our compound-specific approach seems to support those findings, yet with exceptions that we are investigating.

Level of Magnetization of Tephra Grains in the Mars Return Samples
[#6084]
We measured tephra samples from Santorini Caldera acquired during expedition IODP 398 and offer possible interpretation. Returned samples from the Mars Curiosity mission could offer similar results and clarify the possible formation precesses.
