COVID-19 Protocols
Travel and SafetyAs we plan for the 53rd LPSC, our highest priority remains the health and safety of everyone attending the conference. We are closely monitoring news and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and local health agencies regarding travel and large events.
Proof of Full Vaccination Required
We will require all in-person attendees and volunteers to be fully vaccinated with an accepted COVID-19 vaccine. More information about specific processes will be posted here as it becomes available.
Definition of Fully Vaccinated
The CDC considers individuals to be fully vaccinated two weeks following a second dose of mRNA vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. For international attendees, this guidance applies to COVID-19 vaccines authorized for emergency use by the World Health Organization (i.e., AstraZeneca/Oxford, Covishield, Sinopharm, and Sinovac) — two weeks after final dose. The full list of vaccines with final WHO EUL/PQ evaluation status is available here. You must receive your final primary series vaccine dose by February 20 to be eligible to attend the 53rd LPSC in person.
Masking
We will require all conference participants to wear a face mask while in the convention center and shuttle buses. Masks can be removed temporarily when actively eating or drinking. In-person speakers in oral sessions can choose to remove their masks while presenting. In-person poster presenters must remain masked due to close proximity to fellow attendees.
A limited number of disposable masks will be available in case you forget to bring one. Signs will be posted to remind attendees to wear a mask.
Physical Distancing
LPSC organizers are considering ways to modify floor plans and seating so that attendees can maintain appropriate physical distancing. Kiosks and help desks will be spaced apart to reduce crowding. Signs will be posted to remind attendees about physical distancing.
Attendees will have the option to display color-coded labels to indicate their comfort level with physical proximity and contact.
Hygiene and Etiquette
All conference participants are encouraged to practice good hygiene, including washing hands frequently, covering coughs and sneezes, and self-isolating if they feel unwell. To help prevent the spread of disease, hand sanitizer will be available throughout the LPSC convention space.
Cleaning Protocols
The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center has implemented a variety of new protocols and elevated practices in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
