Following the Nexus for Exoplanet System Science (NExSS) goal to investigate how exoplanet history, geology, and climate interact to create the conditions for life and biosignature detection, the workshop aims to address the following four questions and sub-topics:

What does it mean to be habitable?

Definitions of habitability, “potentially habitable,” “habitable zone,” etc.

What conditions are needed for habitability and how do those conditions arise?

Planet formation
Planetary system dynamics

What are the indicators of these conditions and their histories?

Biosignatures
Origins of life
Early Earth

How can we observe these indicators?

Detection methods
Exoplanet characterization
