Planetary Science Studies at The National Academies Town Hall —
Tuesday, 12:00 to 1:15 PM, Indian Springs
This town hall will discuss recent and ongoing National Academies studies of interest to the planetary science community, including the recently released report “Extending Science: NASA’s Space Science Mission Extensions and the Senior Review Process.” This town hall will also provide an overview of ongoing studies on the planetary science research and analysis program, NASA’s large strategic missions, the planetary science mid-term review, sample science facilities review and planning, and planetary protection studies.

MAPSIT 2017 Community Forum —

The Mapping and Planetary Spatial Information Team (MAPSIT) 2017 community forum will give attendees the opportunity to provide feedback about the MAPSIT Roadmap/Strategic Plan that is currently in progress.

Town Hall with LPSC Co-Chairs —

Join LPSC Co-Chairs Dr. Louise Prockter and Dr. Eileen Stansbery for a Town Hall on Tuesday, March 21, from 12:00 to 1:15 p.m. in Waterway 1. Hear from the co-chairs as they take questions from the scientific community about this year’s LPSC. Topics may include future venue locations, childcare options for families, and the proposed Texas “bathroom bill.” Bring your ideas, questions, and concerns! The meeting is open to all registered LPSC attendees.

Picking a Human Landing Site on Mars: What We Are Learning? —
Tuesday, 12:00 to 1:15 PM, Waterway 6-8
In late 2015, NASA conducted the first ever Mars Human Landing Site Studies (HLS2) Workshop. Since that time, several major studies have been conducted to better define landing site options — with access to potential water feedstocks to support human operations being a major focus of these studies. This presentation will outline what has been learned as well as outline emerging research opportunities. A follow-on HLS2 Workshop is anticipated to occur in October 2017.

Lunar Exploration Analysis Group (LEAG) Town Hall —

The LEAG town hall will provide the community with information about current LEAG initiatives and will solicit community feedback about issues that LEAG needs to pursue.

Planetary Aeolian Laboratory User’s Workshop —
Tuesday, 5:30 to 6:30 PM, Panther Creek
The NASA Ames Research Center’s Planetary Aeolian Laboratory (PAL) provides unique capabilities for recreating planetary aeolian processes. This users’ workshop will provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about the PAL facilities, ongoing improvements, and future plans; to develop ideas for experiments; and to ask questions of current users about facility capabilities and potential usage.
