Special Events

Poster Session —

Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with poster presenters the evening of Monday, June 16, 2014 in the Dabney Lounge from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Visit displays by Google Lunar XPRIZE and NASA’s Hypersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (HIAD), enjoy some local cuisine and you may even hear the JPL Jazz Band!

Banquet —

The annual banquet will be held at The Castaway Restaurant in Burbank on Wednesday, June 18.

The banquet will begin at 7:00 p.m. and limited shuttle service will be available from the Hilton Pasadena hotel. Shuttles will pick up attendees at 5:00 p.m. and those on the shuttle will have the opportunity to stop at the Griffith Observatory for a short time prior to arriving at the banquet. Shuttles will leave the banquet at approximately 10:00 p.m.

Field Trips —

Two field trips will be available to attendees on Wednesday afternoon.

Shuttles will leave Caltech at 12:00 p.m. after technical sessions. A boxed lunch will be available for all attendees.

Shuttles will return to Caltech at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Jet Propulsion Laboratory: Take a two-hour tour visiting the Von Karmen Museum, Space Flight Operations Facility, Mars Yard, and Spacecraft Assembly Facility.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Attendees who wish to take the JPL tour MUST submit a request to join the tour to Rob Grover [email protected] and include the following information by WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4:

Upon arrival at JPL you MUST have the following forms of ID:

US Citizens: Government or business/educational issued photo ID
US Legal Permanent Resident: Resident Alien Card
Foreign Nationals: Passport

California Science Center: Visit the Space Shuttle Endeavour, Viking lander model, and Apollo and Mercury capsules.
If you wish to attend one of these field trips, you MUST sign up on the workshop registration form when you register for the meeting. There is no additional cost for the field trips, but space is limited, so participants need to register early! More detailed information will be posted as it becomes available.

LA Tour —

On Thursday, June 19 attendees will have the opportunity to go on a tour of downtown LA leaving Caltech at 5:00 p.m. Additional details will be available soon!
