Workshop on Bridging the Gap III

Bridging the Gap III

Final Announcement

Meeting Location and Date

The Bridging the Gap III:   Impact Cratering in Nature, Experiments, and Modeling conference will take place at the University of Freiburg, Germany, on September 21–23, followed by a three-day field trip on September 24–26. Freiburg is located at the edge of the scenic Black Forest and is easily reached from airports in Frankfurt, Basel, and Zürich.

Talks are scheduled in the Pathology and Anatomy Lecture Hall of Building 25 on the Natural Science Campus.

The poster session will be held in the Geology Department, Building 13.

Purpose and Scope

We invite all researchers working in the field of impact cratering to participate in this conference, which continues the tradition of the successful Bridging the Gap I meeting held in 2003 in Houston and the Bridging the Gap II meeting held in 2007 in Montréal. As with the previous meetings, this conference is aimed at bringing together researchers from different fields, including “observationalists” (remote sensing, field geology, etc.), experimentalists, and modelers. The meeting will be open to all aspects of impact cratering including cratering mechanics, planetary perspectives, environmental effects, impact probabilities, experimental techniques, and shock metamorphism.

Note: All electronic submission forms are part of the USRA Meeting Portal, which requires users to set up a personal profile to access our electronic forms (setting up a profile is quick and easy, requiring only a few minutes of your time).
